State will request for salary hike of AYUSH docs'
BHUBANESWAR: The state government has some constraints to regularize the services of contractual AYUSH doctors against regular sanctioned vacancies bypassing the Orissa Public Service Commission (OPSC). However, the government will send a proposal to the Centre to hike the salary of AYUSH doctors, health minister Prasanna Acharya told the Assembly on Friday.
The minister's assurance came after members cutting across party lines shared concern over the plight of AYUSH doctors in absence of regularization of services.
They said those contractual doctors working in tribal and naxal affected areas for over 10 have been passing through a difficult situation with a poor package' of salary.
They demanded that the AYUSH doctors should be regularized and paid DA, travelling allowance and other facilities. The minister said ayurvedic and homeopathic doctors came under group-B category in 2008 after upgradation of their post. Consequent upon that, their recruitment will be made through OPSC. Hence it is a constraint to regularize services of AYUSH doctors, he pointed out.
According to reports, at present over 1200 AYUSH doctors have been working in the state under the National Rural Health Mission programme.
